Girandole Earrings

Girandole Pendant

GIRANDOLE EARRINGS - $ 90.00
The Girandole style of earrings and pendants began in the middle of the 17th century.  The original style was made in a bow shape with three pear-shaped drops.  Hooks were incorporated into the design to allow the pieces to be detached.  They became popular due to the fashion styles of the day – hair was worn up and dresses had low necklines.

The earring/pendant design for this workshop is based on the Sicilian style of the girandole.  The Sicilians used seed pearls along with semi-precious stones set in an open-work filigree.  You will focus on building a base to hold the semi-precious stones.  The components used in the piece will be detachable to create unique designs.

THIS IS AN INTERMEDIATE TO ADVANCED CLASS!  PREREQUISITE: KNOWLEDGE OF PEYOTE STITCH AND RIGHT ANGLE WEAVE IS REQUIRED

Poppea's Necklace

POPPEA’S NECKLACE – A TWO DAY CLASS - $175.00
Poppea was a woman who lived in ancient Rome.  She was born in Pompeii, and eventually had a magnificent villa a few miles from that doomed city near  the coast.  Her villa can be visited today and is well worth the visit.  She is best known as the Emperor Nero’s second wife.

The two day class is the newest in Maggie’s series of exquisite jewelry inspired by knot patterns found in ancient Rome.  Maggie is still designing and the finished piece will also include a seed bead chain inspired by necklaces found in ancient Rome.  Constructed with Delicas and semi-precious stones this is a fabulous piece!

THIS IS AN INTERMEDIATE TO ADVANCED CLASS!  PREREQUISITE: YOU MUST BE PROFICIENT IN RIGHT ANGLE WEAVE AND FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH HERRINGBONE AND PEYOTE.
